Looking for ways to keep the kids occupied during Ramadan? Craft activities are a great way to keep them entertained, whilst also encouraging them to be creative and making them excited about what is truly the best month of the year!
Here are 6 Ramadan craft ideas for kids of all ages to try:
1. Paper Chains
Get the younger members of the family really involved in decorating the house for Ramadan by making paper chains. A simple, easy and cheap craft activity to introduce for children of all ages, you could encourage more creativity by suggesting they add drawings or shapes onto the chain e.g. moon and star shapes.
2. Ramadan Calendar
Encourage children to look forward to the beginning of Ramadan by making your own Ramadan calendar and filling each pocket/section with an activity based around crafting, baking etc.
Making the calendar itself is also something that the kids can get involved in. Perhaps you could get them to decorate envelopes and hang them from string by pegs, or decorate cardboard boxes that could be stuck to a cardboard image of a mosque – there are so many possibilities!
3. Lanterns
Lanterns could be made out of paper, or perhaps by using glass jars.
The outside of glass jars can be decorated with tissue paper, sequins, coloured paper – whatever you like. Adding a few pieces of our star confetti would make a great finishing touch! Battery operated tea lights or fairy lights can be placed into the decorated jars to create pretty lanterns.

You could also get the kids to make lanterns out of coloured paper, which they can then decorate however they wish. Creating small paper lanterns that can also be used as place cards for an iftar party gives a personal touch to the table that guests can take home with them.
4. Date Jars
Fancy treating your family and friends to a thoughtful little gift? They’ll love to receive a date jar, decorated by the kids for a fun touch. Get some mason jars and let them unleash their creativity on the outside of the jar and the lid, then fill up with dates and hand out to all your favourite people.
5. Good Deeds Jars
Encourage children to help others this Ramadan with their very own good deeds jars full of nice things they plan to do – why not let them decorate their own jars themselves too?
6. Mosque Silhouette Pictures
We love this simple idea of drawing a silhouette of a mosque, or find one online to print, then stick onto a large piece of card so that children can paint a sunset around it.
